New Paid Parking Hours in Rockville Town Square Garages July 1
Hourly Rates, Fines and Library Parking Fees to Change
ROCKVILLE, Md., June 22, 2010 - Parking rates and hours in the three City-owned Rockville Town Square garages will change as of Thursday, July 1.
The new rates and hours are:
The parking meters in Rockville Town Center will continue to require payment of $1 per hour between 7 a.m. and 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Parking at the meters is free Monday through Saturday after 10 p.m., and all day on Sundays and City holidays.
Parking fines in the garages will also increase to $40 per violation, which is the same as parking fines at the street meters.
The Mayor and Council approved the new rates, hours and fines as part of the Fiscal Year 2011 budget. The changes were made to reduce the taxpayer subsidy of the City parking fund.
Also beginning July 1, Montgomery County will no longer provide free parking for the Rockville Memorial Library. The subsidy was eliminated during the county's budget process.
The three garages are located at 215 N. Washington Street, 330 Hungerford Drive (Route 355) and 30 Maryland Avenue.
