RedGate Golf Course Hosts 40th Annual Rockville Open and City Championship
 
ROCKVILLE, Md., July 1, 2010 -The 40th annual Rockville Open and Rockville City Championships will be held Friday, July 9, and Saturday, July 10, at RedGate Golf Course.

The two-day tournament began in 1970 with 60 players and was held at Indian Springs Country Club. The tournament moved when RedGate opened in 1974 and has been held annually at Rockville's championship 18-hole, par-71 course.

The tournament is a 36-hole stroke play event that attracts golfers from as far north as New Jersey and as far south as the Carolinas. Cost is $135 for two-day green fees and cart on Saturday only. It is limited to 120 players and will be six flights to handle all handicap ranges.

Cost for city residents with ID is $125 and for a pass holder, cost is $75. The event also features a cookout, prizes and gifts. Cost for guests at the cookout is $18.

All amateur golfers, 18 years and older and carrying a current USGA handicap, are eligible for the Rockville Open. All amateur golfers living within the corporate city limits of Rockville are eligible for the City Championship.
