Twilight Runfest Benefits Youth Recreation Fund
25th Annual Festival Planned for July 17
ROCKVILLE, Md., July 8, 2010 -The Rockville Rotary Twilight Runfest will take place on Saturday, July 17, at N. Washington Street and Middle Lane in Rockville Town Center. A portion of the proceeds from the event benefit the Rockville Youth Recreation Fund, which provides assistance to children who may not otherwise be able to participate in City programs, activities and camps.
The Rockville Rotary Twilight Runfest is one of the most popular races of the summer. The event consists of an 8K race, including a wheelchair division, and a 1K fun run, followed by music and refreshments.
The 2010 Runfest is the 25th running of Rockville's summer night block party. Sign up now to participate. Cost is $30 until 5 p.m. July 15; $35 from 5-8 p.m. July 16 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. July 17; and $40 at the race site. The 1K fun run is $10.
The 8K race also includes a team competition for runners who wish to register as a team. Teams must consist of five or more runners and must be include at least two men and two women.
The Rockville Rotary Twilight Runfest is presented by the Rockville Rotary Club, hosted by the City of Rockville and conducted by the Montgomery County Road Runners Club.
The 8K course winds through neighborhood streets, including Beall Avenue, N. Washington Street, Martins Lane, Campus Drive around Montgomery College-Rockville Campus, Hungerford Drive and Mannakee Street. The course will be closed to traffic and monitored extensively by course marshals and roving paramedics. Medical aid stations will also be open on the course.
