Rockville Completes Repair Work to Broken Water Main
Mandatory Water Restrictions Remain in Place Through Noon Saturday, July 10
ROCKVILLE, Md., July 9, 2010 -The City of Rockville has completed making repairs to the 24-inch water main pipe that burst July 7, and is now working to flush the water line and test the water, so water restrictions can be lifted.
The mandatory water restrictions will remain in place until at least noon Saturday, July 10. Rockville continues to ask its water customers to:
The 24-inch water main pipe burst around 3:30 p.m. July 7. Repairs were completed at 12:30 a.m. Friday, July 9. The pipe serves as the only water main connecting the City's Water Treatment Plant and the distribution system. Currently, Rockville is receiving supplemental water from the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission (WSSC).
The City's water supply continues to improve with the conservation efforts of Rockville residents and the assistance of WSSC. The City serves 13,445 homes in Rockville. WSSC customers are not affected by the restrictions.
