Rockville Mayor and Council Appoint City Clerk

ROCKVILLE, Md., July 13, 2010 -The Rockville Mayor and Council have appointed Glenda P. Evans as the City Clerk. Evans will start Monday, July 26.

Evans, who has served as the Executive Administrative Assistant to the Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission since 2008, will provide administrative and clerical support for the Mayor and Council. She will also administer city elections, provide staff support for the Board of Supervisors of Elections and the Compensation Commission, and maintain up-to-date records for the City.

"We have found the right person to join our organization," said Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio. "We wanted someone who will understand the needs of our city and who will work well with our staff, and we think Ms. Evans will be a good fit for Rockville."

The City Clerk reports directly to the Mayor and Council. She will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Office of the City Clerk and its staff; ensure the charter and laws of Rockville are maintained and up-to-date; maintain and preserve the official public record of the Mayor and Council, including oversight of the City's archives; and provide a vital link between the Mayor and Council and their constituents.

"I'm thrilled to have this opportunity," Evans said. "Rockville is such a welcoming city and a community I'm proud to call home. I look forward to providing the Mayor and Council with excellent administrative support and the citizens of Rockville with exceptional customer service."

Evans earned a master's degree in general administration and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Central Michigan.
