Wine and Music Festival Features End of Summer Fun
ROCKVILLE, Md., August 13, 2010-The City of Rockville will host "Uncorked" - the annual wine and music festival in Rockville Town Square from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28.
The festival, which was named the 2008 Special Event of the Year by the Conference and Visitors Bureau of Montgomery County, gives residents a chance to sample some of the best wines from across the state, participate in a cooking demonstration and wine seminars, and enjoy live musical entertainment.
Ten wineries will participate in the festival. They are Basignani Winery near Hunt Valley; Boordy Vineyards in the Long Green Valley of Baltimore County; Bordeleau Vineyards in Eden, MD, on the Eastern Shore; Elk Run Vineyards in Frederick County; Frederick Cellars, which operates Mountain Creek Vineyards in Frederick County; Solomon's Island Winery; Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard in Frederick County; Terrapin Station Winery in Cecil County; and Woodhall Wine Cellars in Baltimore County.
Gilly's Craft Beer and Fine Wine in Rockville will also be in attendance.
The event will feature performances by Bill Kirchen and Too Much Fun (rockabilly), Big Light (rock), Superland (funk), The West End (Americana rock), Mama Jama (rock, reggae, calypso and blues), Hand Painted Swinger (cover-original), Kevin Mittleman (jazz), Kevin James (pop, rock, country and Irish folk) and Toby Walker blues, rags and country).
Patrice Olivon of L'Academie de Cuisine and Suzanne Carreiro, cookbook author and independent food and wine consultant, will give cooking demonstrations.
Cost to participate in the wine tasting is $10 and includes a commemorative wine glass for the first 2,000 paid attendees (must be 21 years or older to consume alcohol). Admission is free for concerts and cooking demonstrations.
