Rockville Joins Healthiest Maryland Initiative
Lt. Governor Launched Business Initiative in Town Square
 
ROCKVILLE, Md., September 8, 2010-Rockville's Mayor and Council members welcomed Lt. Gov. Anthony G. Brown to Rockville on Wednesday, Sept. 8, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in support of the state's Healthiest Maryland Business campaign.
 
The Healthiest Maryland Initiative hopes to create a culture of wellness across the state.
 
"We are happy to support the Healthiest Maryland Initiative," said Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio. "We know that healthy people make better employees and can better participate in our community."
 
The City of Rockville joined the Healthiest Maryland Business campaign as an employer of more than 540 people and is encouraging other employers in the city to register.
 
Employers that sign on to the initiative commit to improve employee health and wellness, identify health and wellness strategies, and receive access to educational materials from the state.
 
The Lt. Governor's visit consisted of a meeting with business leaders from 1 to 2 p.m. and a public address from 2:15 to 2:30 p.m. in Rockville Town Square. Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio introduced the Lt. Governor to the crowd in Town Square.
