Rockville to Celebrate Lunar New Year
Free Community Event Planned Feb. 12

Rockville, Md., January 28, 2011 - The Rockville Mayor and Council and the City's Asian Pacific American Task Force will host a Lunar New Year celebration Saturday, Feb. 12, 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre and Social Hall, 603 Edmonston Drive.

Local restaurants will supply a variety of Asian foods to sample and enjoy between 11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. The participating restaurants include Bamboo Buffet at Twinbrook Shopping Center, Asia Taste, Seven Seas, Maria's Bakery Café, Thai Pavilion and Ba Le Restaurant.

The event will feature cultural entertainment from the following groups between 12:30 and 2:30 p.m.:

Crafts and activities, such as Chinese character writing, traditional paper folding and clay sculpting techniques will also be featured at the event between 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.

The Taiwanese Chamber of Commerce, Asia Bank, Taiwanese Benevolent Association of Greater Washington and the Korean Community Service Center of Greater Washington support the celebration.
