Rockville to Host Free Community Health Fair

Rockville, Md., February 28, 2011 - The City of Rockville will host a free community health fair Saturday, March 26, 10 a.m. to I p.m. The fair will include health screenings, nutrition workshop, fitness demonstrations and fun activities for kids at the Twinbrook Community Recreation Center, 12920 Twinbrook Parkway.          

The fair is designed to be a comprehensive health resource for families. 

The fair will feature:

• Health information about diabetes, childhood obesity and other chronic disease;
• Blood pressure and bone density testing and other health screenings;
• A nutrition workshop to practice making affordable and healthy recipes;
• Fitness demonstrations;
• Nonprofit groups that provide health and nutrition services; and
• Games and fitness activities for kids.

A shuttle bus will be provided from Twinbrook Elementary School, 5911 Ridgway Avenue, every 30 minutes beginning at 10 a.m. Parking at the community center is limited; participants are encouraged to park at the school and ride the shuttle to the event.

The Rockville Rotary Club and Shady Grove Adventist Hospital are partnering with the City of Rockville to support this event.
