Rockville to Commemorate Arbor Day
Rockville, Md., April 12, 2011 – Rockville residents and visitors are invited to an Arbor Day ceremony and tree planting featuring Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio and Montgomery County Executive Isiah Leggett.
The event is scheduled for Thursday, April 14, at 1:30 p.m. in front of the historic Red Brick Courthouse, 29 Courthouse Square.
"One of the things that makes Rockville unique is our community's commitment to tree preservation," said Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio. "Our neighborhoods and parks are full of mature trees that we depend on to clean the air and produce oxygen."
The ceremony will include a tree planting and a performance by students from Christ Episcopal School.
Rockville has been named a Tree City USA by the Arbor Day Foundation for 22 years.
