Rockville Hosts Annual Spring Festival at Croydon Creek Nature Center
ROCKVILLE, Md., April 13, 2011 — Rockville will host the ninth annual Spring Festival and Native Plant Sale Saturday, April 30, from 1-4 p.m. at Croydon Creek Nature Center, 852 Avery Road.
Each year, Rockville's nature center invites families, nature enthusiasts, lovers of the environment and anyone looking for an afternoon of fun to take part in woodland hikes, play nature games, make crafts, view exhibits, watch a live animal show and purchase native plants.
Exhibitors at the festival include the Community Wildlife Habitat Team, Green Power Community Challenge, Rainscapes and Conservation Landscaping.
Native plants are adapted to local weather and soil environments. These plants allow homeowners to add beauty to their yards while preserving natural heritage and providing habitat and food for area wildlife, including a variety of bird and insect species.
Croydon Creek Nature Center is located just minutes from Rockville Town Center on the grounds of Rockville Civic Center Park, and promotes and enhances the knowledge, understanding, appreciation and protection of natural resources through quality interpretive programs and exhibits.
