F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre Hosts 'The Mikado'

Rockville, Md., June 9, 2011 – The Victorian Lyric Opera Company will perform the Gilbert and Sullivan classic, “The Mikado,” at the F. Scott Fitzgerald Theatre at Rockville Civic Center Park, 603 Edmonston Drive. Performances are scheduled for Thursday, June 9, at 8 p.m. (preview); Fridays and Saturdays, June 10, 11, 17 and 18, at 8 p.m.; and Sundays, June 12 and 19, at 2 p.m.
“The Mikado” tells the story of the beautiful schoolgirl Yum-Yum who is engaged to Ko-Ko the executioner and falls in love with the romantic minstrel Nanki-Poo. In typical Gilbert and Sullivan fashion, complications emerge, merriment ensues and all is satisfactorily resolved.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and $16 for children, 16 years and younger. Sunday, June 12 is Community Outreach Day; two children 16 and younger are free with an adult, tours and activities start at 12:30.
