Rockville Hosts Renowned German Artist Detlef Allenberg
Unique Exhibit on Display in September

ROCKVILLE, MD, July 26, 2011- The Glenview Mansion Art Gallery at Rockville Civic Center Park, 603 Edmonston Drive, will host an exhibit by renowned German artist Detlef Allenberg Tuesday, Sept. 6, through Wednesday, Sept. 28. The exhibit will be sponsored by the Rockville Sister City Corporation (RSCC) and will open with a free community reception Friday, Sept. 9, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

"The City of Rockville is honored to have such an esteemed international artist come and display his work in the gallery," said Julie Farrell. "This is just one example of the many benefits that have come from our Sister City partnership with Pinneberg."

The opening reception will feature Kathleen Meredith, a local harpist, pianist and singer. German finger food and refreshments will be provided by the RSCC.

Admission to the gallery is free. Gallery hours are Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; and closed official City holidays. Glenview Mansion Art Gallery is wheelchair accessible.

Allenberg is from Rockville's Sister City Pinneberg, Germany. He designed the Sister City logo and is also a board member of Deutsche-Amerikansiche Gesellschaft Rockville-Pinneberg, the RSCC equivalent in Pinneberg.

The Sister City program was formed as part of an outreach initiative during the Eisenhower administration. Cities from the U.S. were matched with cities in other parts of the world in regard to their similar demographics and characteristics. Rockville has been a Sister City with Pinneberg, Germany for more than 50 years.
