Candidate Filing Deadline Set for Sept. 9 in Rockville 2011 Election
ROCKVILLE, Md., August 9, 2011— Rockville residents interested in running for the offices of Mayor or City Council must file by Friday, Sept. 9. City of Rockville elections will be held Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Residents interested in running for mayor or a council seat may obtain a copy of the Candidate Election Information Packet at www.rockvillemd.gov/election11 or in the City Clerk’s Office at City Hall, 111 Maryland Ave.
Candidates must be at least 18, be a registered voter who has lived in the city for at least one year before the election and must submit a petition with signatures of at least 100 registered voters who live in the Rockville city limits.
City elections are held every two years, at which time the mayor and four council seats are up for election. Residents who live within the corporate limits of the city and are registered to vote may vote in City of Rockville elections.
Candidate packets include information on how to get a name on the ballot, when to appoint a campaign treasurer, what reports to file, and all the rules and regulations governing candidates and their campaigns.
