City of Rockville, Montgomery County Host Memorial Remembrance Friday, Sept. 9
Rockville, Md., Sept. 8, 2011 - The City of Rockville and Montgomery County will host a September 11 Memorial Remembrance Friday, Sept. 9, at 12:30 p.m. The event is expected to last one hour.
The media and community are invited to attend the ceremony in Courthouse Square Park at the corner of Route 28 and Maryland Avenue in Rockville. In case of rain the event will be moved indoors to the Executive Office Building Auditorium, 101 Monroe Street.
A live audio feed will be available on site. Event photos will be provided on request after the ceremony. Submit photo requests to pio@rockvillemd.gov.
The ceremony will be a time for remembrance and tribute to the victims, their families, emergency responders and members of the military. Eleven victims of the September 11 attacks were from Montgomery County.
The program includes a reading of the victims' names, musical performances and addresses by Mayor Phyllis Marcuccio, County Executive Isiah Leggett, Montgomery County Council President Valerie Ervin and Congressman Chris Van Hollen (D - MD).
