Earn a Free Bike from the City of Rockville
Rockville, Md., Feb. 23, 2012 – The City of Rockville and Bikes for the World are looking for TERRIFIC citizens and students in grades one to five who can demonstrate they are TERRIFIC (Trustworthy, Earnest, Respectful, Responsible, Involved, Fair, Industrious and Caring) to earn a free bicycle.
Each participant must complete six or more responsible acts and have a parent or mentor verify them. The program is open to all Rockville children in grades first through fifth. The first 50 children who return completed forms and fully meet the requirements will earn bicycles, helmets and locks.
Forms are due by Monday, April 2, and can be downloaded from the City’s website at www.rockvillemd.gov/recreation/bicycling/terrificbikes. Awardees will be honored at a ceremony in May and recognized by the Mayor and Council.
The bikes have collected and reconditioned by staff and volunteers from Bikes for the World, a nonprofit organization that provides bicycles for transportation to deserving people in Rockville and around the globe.
