Rockville Will Open Cooling Centers Throughout the Summer
High Temperatures, Air Quality Alerts Will Activate Centers

Rockville, Md., June 29, 2012 - The City of Rockville will activate cooling centers at four locations for residents suffering from high temperatures throughout the summer.

The centers are located at the following City facilities:

Residents using the cooling centers may stay in designated public areas for free. Residents who want to use the amenities (i.e. fitness rooms, computer labs or drop-in programs) may do so by paying a daily admission fee.

Cooling centers will be open during normal hours of operation. Check the City's website at www.rockvillemd.gov or call the centers for information. Some centers are closed or operate under limited hours on weekends and holidays.

An adult must accompany children using the cooling centers.

The City of Rockville will open cooling centers at the above locations on days when the temperature is 96 degrees or more or when a code orange or code red air quality alert is issued for the county.
