The Field Services Bureau is commanded by Major Robert J. Rappoport and consists of Patrol Units. The Major serves as a Watch Commander and is assigned to provide field supervision on a daily basis to ensure that policy, procedures, rules and regulations are properly carried out. The Major is responsible for operational activity of the five Patrol Teams. A personnel assigned to the Field Services Bureau are sworn police officers. They are responsible for: - Uniformed police patrol - 24 hours per day - 7 days per week.
- Responding to calls for service.
- Traffic direction, control, and enforcement.
- Investigating traffic accidents.
- Responding to all major incidents.
- Serving warrants.
Field Training Officer Program Oversees and coordinates the field training officer program for sworn police officers. Ride Along Program Receives and reviews all applications for ride alongs. Make assignments as appropriate. Traffic Unit The Traffic Unit is an assignment of uniformed police officers to address specific neighborhood concerns and complaints. The primary concerns addressed by this unit are traffic-related issues.
The Traffic Unit utilizes many strategies to address neighborhood complaints. These include, but are not limited to: Victim Advocate Program The vitim advocate works in collarboration with Rockville City police officers to supplement and enhance their efforts to follow up with victims of crime. 02/25/2013 |
