Rockville City Police Chief T.N. TreschukThe Rockville City Police Department is committed to ensuring the safety and protection of homes, businesses, schools and the people who occupy them. Rockville has a resident population near 62,000, including a student population that occupies more than a dozen schools, as well as a workforce in excess of 80,000.

The department is a fully accredited agency that works with the community to provide the best police protection, services, education and enforcement.

Rockville City Police Department consists of four bureaus: Office of the Chief, Administrative Services, Field Operations and Special Operations.

Community Policing
The Rockville City Police Department is divided into four divisions – Office of the Chief, Field Operations Bureau, Special Operations Bureau and Administrative Services Bureau – and together they comprise 57 sworn officers and 37 civilian employees.

Programs and Community Events
Rockville City Police administer numerous programs, including ride along and victim assistance, and take part in numerous regional and national crime initiatives such as National Night Out.

Neighborhood Services and Animal Control
The Neighborhood Services Division’s primary function is animal control, including the licensing of dogs, picking up deceased animals, handling complaints involving animals, handling animal bite complaints and enforcement of animal control laws.

Community Enhancement and Code Enforcement
The Community Enhancement Code Enforcement Division inspects neighborhoods, as well as individual residential and commercial properties to bring them in compliance with the City Code requirements for property maintenance, zoning enforcement and current licensing of rental facilities and oversize vehicles.

Crime Prevention
Rockville City Police offer crime prevention tips in an effort to educate citizens about ways to protect themselves from becoming a victim. Tips range from ATM safety to home security to vacations and walking.

Parking and Camera Programs
Rockville maintains its parking meters, garages and lots; enforces parking regulations; issues parking permits for residential areas; and collects parking fines. Rockville also administers speed and red light camera programs.
