Year-End 2009 Crime Analysis Statistical Report

There has been a 6% decrease in crime within the City of Rockville for January–June 2009, as compared to the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) statistics for January-June 2008:

Part 1 Crime decreased by 14%(from 834 to 720)
Part II Crime decreased by 2%
(from 1,976 to 1,931)
Overall, Total Crime decreased by 6%
(Part 1 and Part II totals)
(from 2,810 to 2,651)
Murder:100% decrease(from 1 to 0)
Rape:No Change(from 6 to 6)
Robbery:14% decrease(from 28 to 24)
Aggravated Assault:53% increase(from 15 to 32)
Burglary:27% decrease(from 144 to 105)
Larceny:13% decrease(from 580 to 504)
Auto Theft:18% decrease(from 60 to 49)

Year-End 2008 Crime Analysis Statistical Report

There has been a 3% decrease in crime within the City limits of Rockville from 2007 to 2008 as compared to the Uniform Crime Reporting (UCR) statistics. 

Part 1 Crime increased by 7%(from 1653 to 1778)
Part II Crime decreased by 7%(from 4169 to 3896)
Overall, Total Crime (Part 1 and Part II totals) decreased by 3%
(from 5822 to 5674)
Murder:No Change(from 1 to 1)
Rape:20% decrease(from 10 to 8)
Robbery:19% decrease(from 77 to 62)
Aggravated Assault:27% decrease(from 52 to 38)
Burglary:16% increase(from 240 to 285)
Larceny:9% increase(from 1170 to 1288)
Auto Theft:7% decrease(from 103 to 96)

Part 1 Crimes against persons (murder, rape, robbery, aggravated assaults) either remained the same or decreased this year.  

Two of the three Part 1 Crimes against property (burglaries and larcenies) increased; one (auto theft) decreased.

Part II Crimes are defined as minor assaults, arson, forgery-counterfeiting, bad checks, embezzlement, vandalism, weapon offenses, prostitution, sex offenses, CDS (controlled dangerous substances) violations, family offenses, juvenile offenses, liquor law violations, disorderly conduct, suicide and non-traffic offenses.
