Financial Assistance

The City of Rockville believes that everyone, regardless of income, should be able to participate in its recreation opportunities. To facilitate participation, the Department offers financial assistance through programs such as the Recreation Fund and Senior Assistance Fund. There are also many ways to support our parks and recreation system though donations and sponsorships. Watch a video about the recreation fund.

Donation and Sponsorship Programs
Show your support for our wonderful recreation and parks system! We offer a number of opportunities to donate funds to our financial assistance programs or sponsor programs and events.

Donations 
You can contribute funds to preserve and enhance our parks, facilities and programs through the following avenues. Payment should be made to the City of Rockville and mailed to 111 Maryland Avenue, Rockville MD 20850.

The Rockville Recreation and Parks Foundation is a 501c3 organization established to:

  • Improve recreational activities, programs, parks and facilities
  • Support the Rockville Youth Recreation Fund
  • Assist with the acquisition of new parks and open space
  • Purchase equipment and other amenities for the City's parks and facilities.

To donate, send a check made payable to the Rockville Recreation and Parks Foundation.  Mail to 77 S. Washington Street, Rockville MD 20850.  For more information, call 240-314-8867.

Tree and Gift Memorial Program—Remember and honor family members, friends and colleagues with a donation of a tree or bench. Call 240-314-8700 for an application.

Croydon Creek Nature Center Fund—Supports the efforts of Croydon Creek Nature Center to purchase and create informative exhibits depicting nature in an urban setting. Contact the Nature Center at 240-314-8770.

Holiday Drive Fund—Financial donations support this City of Rockville holiday tradition which provides food and toys to local families referred by schools and social service organizations – Online donations possible. For more information, call 240-314-8300. 

Glenview Mansion Fund—Donations are used solely for maintaining the 1926 historic details and current furnishings of this extraordinary building. For donation information, call 240-314-8660.

Recreation Fund—Give a “Gift of Fun & Joy.” The Recreation Fund provides financial assistance to someone who would not otherwise be able to participate in our programs and activities. The fund is partially supported by the Rockville Rotary Club.

There are three ways to contribute to the Recreation Fund:

  • “Add Up” on your registration form. Round off your payment to next easy denomination, and enter this additional amount on Recreation Fund Donation line.
  • Send a check, made payable to the Rockville Recreation Fund, and mail to Rockville Department of Recreation and Parks, 111 Maryland Avenue, Rockville, MD 20850.

Rockville Emergency Assistance Fund—Supports the Rockville Emergency Assistance Program (REAP) which provides financial assistance to residents of Rockville experiencing a financial crisis such as utility shut-off or eviction. Call 240-314-8300 to learn more about how you can help someone in need.

Senior Assistance Fund—Donations provide financial assistance to eligible individuals age 60 and older so they can participate in programs, trips and join the Rockville Senior Center. Online donation possible - go to www.rockvillemd.gov and click on Rock Enroll or call 240-314-8810.

Sponsorships
Corporate or business entities can show their support for the elements that make Rockville a great place to work for their employees. There are a variety of sponsorship opportunities from programs to teams to major special events.

Rockville Senior Center’s Living Legacy Campaign—seeks to raise $1 million to ensure the Rockville Senior Center can continue its tradition of excellence, serving older adults in a caring, fun, supportive, and educational atmosphere. Checks should be made payable to Rockville Seniors, Inc. and mailed to 1150 Carnation Drive, Rockville MD 20850. You will receive a tax receipt in the mail. Financial Assistance Programs

Rockville Youth Recreation Fund—Ages 18 & under
(Effective July 1, 2011)
Scholarships for program fees are available for residents of the City of Rockville. The participant must pay $15 toward each program fee, unless otherwise specified. The fund will cover the balance of the fees, up to $100 maximum per person, per session (fall, winter, spring, summer); $150 maximum per youth for the camp session; $1,000 maximum per family. Any remaining balance must be paid by the participant.
Financial assistance must be applied for in person at the time of registration.

Financial assistance is available for Rockville residents, ages 19 and up, based on income.  For additional information, please call 240-314-8620.

Senior Assistance Fund - Ages 60 & older
Financial assistance for senior classes, day trips, and Senior Center memberships is available. Participants must be Rockville residents aged 60 or older. The participant pays $3.00 per registration and the Senior Assistance Fund covers the balance up to a maximum of $50 per quarter for trips and $50 per quarter for classes or membership dues.
