If you are not in Phase 1 of Rockville's new recycling and refuse program, your service will remain the same until your neighborhood is transitioned to the new once-per-week program. In accordance with the City Code, the City-provided recycling and refuse collection service is mandatory for all-single family homes and most townhouses. If you have any questions, call 240-314-8568.
- Single Stream Recycling - Glass, Metal, Plastic, Mixed Paper and Cardboard - Collected once each week at the curb in the City-provided blue recycling bin on your recycling day. Recycling must be out by 6 a.m.
- Refuse – Collected twice each week outside your residence in 32-gallon refuse containers or heavy plastic refuse trash bags on both of your collection days. Trash must be out by 6 a.m.
- Grass Clippings – Place in biodegradable paper bags or easily emptied 32-gallon, rigid containers at the curb on your recycling day by 6 a.m.
- Brush and Branches – Cut into lengths of not more than 5 feet and organize in bundles not more than 2 feet in diameter. No more than 10 bundles maximum allowed. Place at the curb by 6 a.m.
- Leaf Collection - Place unbagged leaves at the curb by 7 a.m. on the collection dates. Sticks and all other objects must be removed from leaf piles. Leaves are collected twice per season in the spring and fall.
- Large Household Items – Separate from your refuse and place at the curb.
- Hazardous Items - Call 240-314-8568 for directions.
- Removal of Dead Animals - Call Animal Control at 240-314-8930.
Recycling and refuse WILL NOT be collected on the following City holidays:
- New Year’s Day
- Martin Luther King Jr.’s Birthday
- Memorial Day
- Independence Day
- Labor Day
- Thanksgiving Day
- Christmas Day
Please note: You MUST HOLD your recycling and refuse until the next regular collection if your collection day falls on one of these holidays.
