CONSTRUCTION ACTIVITY: SANITARY SEWER REHABILITATION: Second Notice

The City of Rockville is doing a rehabilitation of existing sanitary sewer mains in your neighborhood within the next two to four weeks.  Some preliminary work has already taken place:  a "pre-rehabilitation" television inspection of the existing sewer mains and cleaning of the lines.  What will take place next is that a new lining material will be placed in the existing sewer lines.   These new liners will coat the interior of pipes and manholes to seal any cracks.  The goal of this project is to prevent any groundwater, storm water runoff or tree roots from entering into the City's sanitary sewer system.  This process is completed without any excavation because the liner is installed through manholes.

Crews from our contractor, Humphrey and Sons, Inc., and its sub-contractor, Maryland Trenchless Technologies, will be working on the sewer line within the street in front of, or affecting, your property.  There will be an interruption to your water service.  A specific notice will be left on your door 48 hours ahead of the service interruption.  Water service will be shut off to your property for approximately eight hours during the normal workday, approximately from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.  Every effort will be made to keep your water shut-off to a minimum.  You may experience discolored water when service is restored.  It is recommended to run your cold water tap at a slow to moderate rate of flow at the lowest point in your home or business for an hour or until the water is clear before using it for any purpose.  Do not do laundry in discolored water or your clothes could be damaged.  The discoloration does NOT mean that the water is unsafe or harmful.  It is simply cloudy from the disruption of the flow.

The Contractor will be working on these specific streets in this order:
