Community Meeting to Discuss Pedestrian Safety & Traffic Calming Project on
Watts Branch Parkway at Aintree Drive

Rockshire Pool House (below the Giant parking lot)
2351 Wootton Parkway
Thursday, July 1, 2004 7 p.m.

As part of Rockville’s ongoing effort to improve pedestrian safety throughout the City and to implement the Mayor and Council’s Pedestrian Safety initiative, City staff has been working with citizens to develop a plan to improve pedestrian safety at the intersection of Watts Branch Parkway and Aintree Drive.  Based on these efforts, the Rockshire Homeowners Association (HOA) and City are jointly sponsoring a meeting to finalize the concept for the improvement.

Due to vehicular volumes and speeds along Watts Branch Parkway, it is difficult for pedestrians to safely cross this intersection.  City staff, together with Rockshire community representatives, has developed a plan that includes medians to slow vehicles in order to provide pedestrians a safer crossing environment.

There will be a community meeting to present the concept and hear feedback from residents. This meeting will be held concurrently with the monthly Rockshire HOA meeting. The event will be held on Thursday, July 1 at 7 p.m. at the Rockshire Pool House (below the Giant parking lot), 2351 Wootton Parkway.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss this project prior to the July 1 meeting, please contact Larry Marcus, Chief of Traffic & Transportation (240-314-8505)  email: lmarcus@rockvillemd.gov or Katherine Kelly, Transportation Planner (240-314-8527) email: kkelly@rockvillemd.gov.
