Final Phase of Traffic Calming Plan to be Installed on Hurley Avenue

As part of Rockville’s ongoing effort to protect residential neighborhoods from vehicles traveling at unsafe speeds, City staff has been working with citizens to implement a comprehensive traffic calming plan along Hurley Avenue. This is the final phase of the traffic calming plan developed with resident input in 2001 and completes the comprehensive plan to address speeds on Hurley Avenue.

In this final phase of traffic calming, the intersection of Sherbrooke/Hurley will be narrowed to slow traffic and improve the pedestrian crossing, and the section of Hurley Avenue between the two traffic circles will be narrowed to slow traffic.

This project will be implemented by Concrete General and the expected completion date is October 15, 2004.  A diagram of the planned changes is shown on the reverse side of this notice.

If you have any questions or would like more information on this project, please contact Zachary Kershner, Civil Engineer I-Environment, at 240-314-8526 or by email zkershner@rockvillemd.gov or Bo Ferguson, Assistant to the City Manager, at 240-314-8105 or by email bferguson@rockvillemd.gov.
