When: Tuesday, July 11, 2006, 6:00 P.M. to 6:45 P.M.
Where: Meet at the Corner of Luckett Street and Beall Avenue
City staff is coordinating a meeting with residents who live on Luckett Street, between Beall Avenue and Anderson Avenue, to discuss placement and design of a concrete sidewalk on the east side of Luckett Street to replace the existing asphalt path.
The City of Rockville has received requests from residents throughout the West End neighborhood to construct sidewalks where they are missing and to improve existing sidewalks that are in disrepair. These requests support the City’s goal to improve pedestrian accessibility and to create safer routes for students walking to Beall Elementary School.
Funds to implement the sidewalk have been secured through traffic mitigation agreements with Chase Communities as a result of the Chestnut Lodge development. As a next step, Chase Communities is ready to begin design of the sidewalk in coordination with residents along Luckett Street, between Beall Avenue and Anderson Avenue.
The meeting on July 11, 2006 will provide a forum for residents, staff and Chase Communities to discuss options and concerns about constructing a concrete sidewalk. Some of the issues to discuss include the alignment of the sidewalk, the placement of the sidewalk in relationship to residential yards, and potential tree impacts. Please note that the City plans to stake out existing City rights-of-way with small orange flags prior to this meeting. These flags will be removed following the July 11, 2006 meeting.
On the reverse side of this page is a map of the missing sidewalk area. If you have any questions or would like to discuss this project prior to the meeting, please contact Carrie Sanders, Transportation Planner, at 240-314-8529 or csanders@rockvillemd.gov.
