Neighborhood Advisory Construction Stake-out, Tree Removal, Sidewalk Construction, Curb and Gutter Installation, and Storm Drain Work Scheduled for Lynch Street In order to make way for new sidewalks and curbs, the Department of Public Works (DPW) will utilize a City contractor, Pogo Tree Experts, to remove seven (7) street trees within the public right-of-way. Tree removal work along Lynch Street is scheduled during the week of August 7, 2006 in advance of the sidewalk construction. Parking restrictions and temporary lane closures will be in place during the tree removal process. The subject trees have been marked with orange ribbon. Sidewalk Construction To improve pedestrian safety throughout the City and to continue implementing the Mayor and Council’s Pedestrian Safety initiative, the City of Rockville will be constructing a 5-foot concrete sidewalk and curb along the west side of Lynch Street. The sidewalk will be placed adjacent to the proposed curb between Anderson Avenue and Beall Avenue. Sidewalk construction should begin the week of September 5, 2006 and be completed within three (3) weeks, weather permitting. The City contractor will be D & F Construction, Inc. The schedule will be affected by weather and is subject to change without notice. Traffic will be maintained along Lynch Street, but you may experience some delays. Drainage Improvements During the design phase of this project, DPW identified some drainage improvements that will require the construction of storm drain pipe and inlets, included as part of the sidewalk project. Storm drain construction should begin either the week of August 7 or 14, weather permitting. Drainage inlets will be installed at the Lynch/Beall intersection within the street and a yard inlet will be placed behind the curb (adjacent to 406 Beall Avenue) to address an existing drainage issue. The planning and design of these drainage improvements have delayed the implementation of the sidewalk. A City consultant, Maddox Surveyors and Engineers, will be on-site in early August setting wooden stakes in the ground for construction preparation.
