Neighborhood Advisory Tree Removal and Sidewalk Construction Scheduled for Calvin Lane Tree Removal In order to make way for a new sidewalk, the Rockville Department of Public Works (DPW) will utilize an outside contractor, Pogo Tree Experts, to remove twenty-six (26) street trees within the public right-of-way. Tree removal work along Calvin Lane is scheduled during the week of August 7, 2006 in advance of the sidewalk construction. Parking restrictions and temporary lane closures will be in place during the tree removal process. The subject trees have been marked with orange ribbon.
To improve pedestrian safety throughout the City and to continue implementing the Mayor and Council’s Pedestrian Safety initiative, the City of Rockville will be constructing a four-foot-wide concrete sidewalk and curb along the west side of Calvin Lane. The sidewalk will be placed two feet behind the existing curb between Gladstone Drive and Dean Drive. Sidewalk construction should begin the week of September 5, 2006 and be completed within four (4) weeks, weather permitting. The contractor for this work will be Romano Concrete Construction, Inc. The schedule will be affected by weather and is subject to change without notice. Traffic will be maintained along Calvin Lane, but you may experience some delays.
