Call for Comments: FINAL DESIGN
Pedestrian Safety Project on Wootton Parkway Between Fairwood Court and McCormick Road

The City of Rockville will be making pedestrian improvements along Wootton Parkway from Fairwood Court to McCormick Road.  The improvements consist of:

  • Constructing sidewalk along the west side of Wootton Parkway between Fairwood Court and McCormick Road to provide better access to an existing bus stop;
  • Striping a crosswalk across Fairwood Court; and
  • Examine the potential for striping a crosswalk across Wootton Parkway to line up with an existing trail on the east side of Wootton Parkway at McCormick Road.

This project supports the Mayor and Council’s goal to enhance pedestrian safety and to implement sidewalks where they are missing.  It also supports the objective of accessibility to transit facilities.

A public comment period on this final design will be open through Friday, August 12, 2005.  Pending public input, we anticipate that you will receive a Notice of Construction in Fall 2005 for the sidewalk.

We welcome your comments on these proposed pedestrian safety improvements.  Your comments can be submitted to Nazar Saleh, Civil Engineer, via email, phone, or regular mail: nsaleh@rockvillemd.gov, 240-314-8507, Department of Public Works, 111 Maryland Avenue Rockville, MD 20850.

We request that you submit any comments by August 12, 2005.
