A City contactor, Environmental Quality Resources (EQR), will be working on the stormdrain outfall located at the rear of 619 and 621 Aster Boulevard. Stormwater runoff currently drains east of Aster Boulevard and outfalls into the Watts Branch Stream Valley. The amount of runoff from the roadway and upstream stormdrain system has eroded the channel and pipe outfall.
Crews will access the site between 619 and 621 Aster Boulevard via an 8- to 10-foot wide mulch path to help minimize disturbance. The repairs involve placing large rock (rip-rap) along the channel slopes and bottom at the outfall. Impacts include temporary ground disturbance, staging of material, removal of shrubs, and general clearing. No tree removal is planned. The access path and disturbance has been marked in the field with orange ribbon and wooden stakes.
Work is scheduled to begin during the week of August 27 (weather permitting) and will continue for approximately one week. Upon completion of the work, EQR will restore the area with seeding and mulch.
