Community Meeting to Discuss Pedestrian Safety and Traffic Calming Projects
on Hurley Avenue and Watts Branch Parkway at Aintree Drive

Location:  Rockshire Pool House (Below the Giant Parking Lot)
2351 Wootton Parkway

Monday, October 18, 2004
7 p.m.

Purpose of Meeting
As part of Rockville’s ongoing effort to improve pedestrian safety throughout the City and to implement the Mayor and Council’s Pedestrian Safety Initiative, City staff has been working with citizens to develop a plan to improve pedestrian safety at the intersection of Watts Branch Parkway and Aintree Drive.  Based on these efforts, the Rockshire Homeowners Association (HOA) and the City are jointly sponsoring a meeting to finalize the concept plan, as well as to discuss the improvements completed on Hurley Avenue.

Background
Due to vehicular volume and speeds along Watts Branch Parkway, it is difficult for pedestrians to safely cross this intersection.  City staff and the Rockshire community representatives have developed a plan that includes medians to slow vehicles in order to provide pedestrians a safer crossing environment.

If you have any questions or would like to discuss this project prior to the October 18th meeting, please contact Katherine Kelly, Transportation Planner, in the Public Works Department at 240-314-8500 or by email at kkelly@rockvillemd.gov.
