At the request of the Twinbrook Civic Association, the former tennis court located behind Rockcrest Ballet/Recreation Center will be converted to a skate park. Low-height skateboarding and in-line skating elements such as ramps, rails and pipes will be installed. The skate park will be established on a trial basis and will not be supervised on a continuous basis. Children of all ages are welcome to skate at their own risk. It is highly recommended that safety equipment such as helmets, arm and kneepads be worn while skating, and that users use safe practices and are respectful of others.
The Rockcrest Skate Park is planned to be open for use beginning Friday, June 13 and remain open until early November. At this time the ramps will be stored for the winter, and the skate park evaluated by residents and staff for future programming.
