Survey Notice: Proposed Sidewalk, Anderson Avenue |
Sidewalk Construction
To enhance pedestrian accessibility, safety and mobility, the City of Rockville plans to construct a sidewalk on the north side of Anderson Avenue between Nelson Street and Forest Avenue. The City will conduct a field survey within the next two weeks to assist in the preparation of a concept design. You will be contacted this fall by mail to review and comment on the proposed sidewalk design. View a map showing the proposed sidewalk.
A survey crew will be in your neighborhood to collect field data on or about the week of August 2. Upon completion of the field survey, City staff will prepare a concept design for your review. This design will illustrate how the proposed sidewalk may be constructed and will identify impacts to trees and existing features within the public right-of-way. Any trees removed during the sidewalk installation will be replaced per the City’s Street Tree Master Plan. The next notice you receive from the City will be an invitation to review and comment on the proposed sidewalk design. The City will not proceed to the final design and construction of this project without soliciting citizen input.
Project History
This project was requested by members of the community to improve pedestrian safety throughout the City. Completion of this sidewalk will directly improve the safety of children walking to Beall Elementary School and Welsh Park. This project is identified in the City’s Sidewalk Capital Improvement Program (CIP) and is consistent with the Mayor and Council 2020 theme, Multi-modal Transportation.
