Potomac Woods Hydrant Painting

Volunteers will be painting 25 City of Rockville fire hydrants in your neighborhood on Saturday, Sept. 17 and Sunday, Sept. 18, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. If the volunteers are unable to complete the work because of inclement weather, the work will be rescheduled for Saturday, Sept. 24, and Sunday, Sept. 25.

The City is phasing in the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standard for fire hydrant color coding. The hydrants will be painted safety yellow with the appropriate bonnet color to signify the hydrant’s actual flow rate. Eventually all City fire hydrants will be painted to the NFPA standard.
