This notice is to alert you to road closures on Maryland Avenue and lane closures on East Jefferson Street  Thursday, Oct. 6, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. This work is a necessary follow-up to the emergency sewer repair that was completed Aug. 5. Due to the location of the work and the impact to traffic, the work will be completed at night. Residents may hear construction noise and increased truck traffic, but any impact should be minimal.

Maryland Avenue will be closed from Fleet Street to East Jefferson Street. In addition, lane closures will occur on East Jefferson Street from North Washington Street to Monroe Street. Traffic will be maintained in both directions on East Jefferson Street during work. Motorists are advised to use North Washington Street, East Middle Lane, Monroe Street and Fleet Street as alternate routes. Construction dates may change due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.

The City of Rockville has hired a contractor, AM-Liner East Inc., to make the sanitary sewer repairs. This repair consists of installing a liner in an existing sewer pipe to coat the interior, sealing cracks and repairing pipe defects.

In addition to this work, the City will be making point repairs to the sewer main, which will require excavation. It will not be necessary to reroute the sewer flow during the lining process. This work will not affect your home's sewer lines.
