Neighborhood Advisory

 Meeting Notice
Meeting to review placement and design of a sidewalk along one side of Brooke Drive from Lewis Avenue to Rockland Avenue.

Tuesday, November 15, 2005 at 7:00 P.M.

City Hall Mayor and Council Chambers
111 Maryland Avenue, Rockville, MD 20850

Meeting Purpose
As part of Rockville’s ongoing effort to improve pedestrian safety throughout the City and to implement the Mayor and Council’s Pedestrian Safety initiative, City staff is coordinating a meeting with residents who live on Brooke Drive from Rockland Avenue to Lewis Avenue to discuss placement and design of a sidewalk on one side of the street.

Funds to implement the sidewalk have been secured through traffic mitigation agreements with The JBG Companies as a result of the Twinbrook Commons development. As a next step, the JBG Companies is ready to begin design of the sidewalk in coordination with residents along this street.

The meeting on November 15th will provide a forum for residents, staff and The JBG Companies to discuss options and concerns about implementing the sidewalk.  Some of the issues to discuss include the alignment of the sidewalk, whether or not to preserve certain trees along the street, which side of the street the sidewalk should be installed, and the placement of the sidewalk in relation to residential yards.

Staff Contact
If you have any questions or would like to discuss this project prior to the November 15 meeting, please contact Carrie Sanders, Transportation Planner, at 240-314-8529 or csanders@rockvillemd.gov.
