All plans for jobs serviced by Rockville City water must be designed using the Rockville City Plumbing Code. Do not use the WSSC code for plan submittals in the City. If WSSC supplies the water for the project design and permits shall be in accordance with WSSC requirements. The City will accept exterior water meter settings based on the WSSC Standard Details. All water meter installations in the City must be outside settings and placed in a green area at the property line. The location of the water meter vault/crock must be included in the civil drawings.
All plans must be drawn to scale. Plans indicating only dimensions will be rejected and/or suspended.
Plans cannot be marked “FOR PERMIT ONLY”, “NOT FOR CONSTRUCTION" or a percentage of completion (%)
Plan size limitations: Plans should be no smaller than 24” x 18” and no larger than 48” x 30”. Plumbing drawings should be of a size consistent with the Architectural drawings.
Plans must reflect the actual wet stamp and wet signature of the Maryland State design professional on each sheet of the plans.
Plumbing fixture information to include, the calculated occupant load used to determine the number of required plumbing fixtures, number and fixture distribution based on the proposed use group.
Plumbing plan layout, pitch of drainage lines, locations of cleanouts, size of traps, (DFU) drainage fixture count and complete riser diagrams.
Water supply and distribution plans showing piping, sizes of piping, water demand calculations, materials used and backflow protection devices (include listings of backflow protection devices).
Water heater details and locations of relief valve drainage. Indicate if unit(s) is gas or electric. Venting information must be included in the plans for all gas-fired equipment. Information may be provided in the mechanical drawings
Details on piping hanger support and spacing.
Storm drainage details including roof drain sizes, downspout/leader sizes and information on secondary (EMERGENCY) roof drains must be provided where the roof perimeter extends above the roof surface. Calculations should also be included.
Information on grease/oil interceptors to include venting.
Kitchen equipment layout to include details on indirect or direct drainage. Indicate if discharge will be through an air gap or an air break.
Details on dishwashing machines, autoclaves and similar equipment to include information on wastewater discharge temperatures. Also indicate if chemicals are used in the cleaning process. NOTE: The City plumbing code prohibits discharge temperatures in excess of 140 degrees F. (60 degrees C.)
Provide information on floor drains and trap seal primers if used, and information on hub drains and waste receptors. NOTE: The City will require a trap seal primer in all areas that do not receive routine discharge, such as mechanical equipment rooms.
Information must be provided on all sinks and drains that will receive chemicals. These installations are commonly found in lab or industrial occupancies. The City will require listings of all chemicals used and quantities discharged. Provide information on neutralizing devices to include manufactures cut sheets. The City may also ask for certifications from the building owner/tenant relating to the chemicals used and discharged.
