Police, schools, and parents all work together in partnership with kids, to reinforce a drug-free life-style. K-4th Grade Visitations: A D.A.R.E. officer from Rockville City Police teaches the basics on safety and prevention issues. 5th/6th grade core classes: The D.A.R.E. officer will give 17 lessons providing the the skills needed as young adults to avoid gang violence and resist the temptations of drug abuse. Middle/Junior High: These 10 lessons follow the core classes. Emphasis is on resisting peer pressure and managing feelings of anger and aggression without the use of alcohol and drugs. High School: These nine lessons take the students into adulthood. The program is co-taught by a D.A.R.E. offier and a high shcool teacher and deals with everyday situations high school students may encounter.
