The Community Services Division offers a wide variety of services and programs that support families and help the City's children and teens. The Division also provides oversight of City-funded Caregiver programs and promotes increased community involvement in local human service programs.
Through the completion of neighborhood studies, analysis of socioeconomic data from the U.S. Census, active involvement with local community service coordination mechanisms, we assess the human service needs of Rockville residents, availability of relevant resources, and service gaps. For a demographic profile designed to increase awareness of the trends and issues shaping the needs of Rockville residents, please see Our Changing City.
In addition to the programs operated by the Division of Community Services, the City provides grants to local private nonprofit agencies to provide housing, health care, and supportive services to Rockville residents. The Division coordinates the annual grant application process, receives and processes reimbursement requests, compiles quarterly service utilization reports, and conducts formal site visits.
Representing the City, the Community Services Program Manager was a co-founder of the Montgomery Organizational Development Group (MODG), which actively promotes the use of a common system of outcome measurement by all nonprofit agencies in the county. MODG has adopted a common grant application form and funded a twelve-hour training curriculum for nonprofit program managers at Montgomery College. All Caregiver Agency applicants for City funds are required to develop outcome measures consistent with the training.
