Holiday Drive
Sorters are needed to sort canned food donations for Thanksgiving food baskets.

Food packers are needed to assemble Thanksgiving food baskets.  Packers must be able to lift a twenty-pound box of food.

Both of these volunteer opportunities are suitable for individuals who want to donate their time or for service groups seeking a holiday activity.  These activities are also approved for Student Service Learning credit.

Delivery people with their own cars will also be needed to deliver holiday baskets primarily to disabled and elderly residents.

Linkages to Learning

Volunteer tutors are needed Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at Maryvale Elementary School.  Volunteers can work any or all of the days available from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. or from 4:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.  All are welcome to participate from teens to grandparents.  If you are interested, please call Carlos Aparicio, Site Coordinator, at 301-279-8508 or complete our on-line application form (.pdf).

Mentoring

Mentoring is a one-on-one relationship over a period of time between a youth and an older person who provides consistent support, guidance, and concrete help. Research has shown that mentors can have a significant positive impact on the life of a young person! If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please call 240-314-8310 or complete our on-line application form (.pdf).

Additional volunteer opportunities are available through the Montgomery County Volunteer Center.
