Community Services Officer
The primary responsibility of the Community Services Officer is to effectively implement the Department's Crime Prevention Programs.
The aim is to create in the minds of the Rockville residents and businesspersons an awareness of the roles they can individually and collectively play in the reduction and/or prevention of crime. Also to encourage individual, group, school, neighborhood, and community follow up and activities to reduce/prevent crime.
Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness Director
Lieutenant Robert Rappoport currently staffs the Department's Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness position. This position reports directly to the Chief of Police.
The primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate the Department's Homeland Security efforts between federal, state, county, and other municipal agencies. In addition, security policies, protocols and strategies are reviewed and developed. Additional funding is sought from federal agencies and other sources to secure the necessary resources and training. The Director is also responsible for ensuring departmental compliance with federal regulations and Homeland Security Presidential Directives.
The Director also serves as the primary representative to the Montgomery County Emergency Management Group, and responds to the Emergency Operations Center during critical incidents.
