Public Works
The Department of Public Works is dedicated to delivering Engineering and Operational Services that provide the Rockville community with PRIDE in their city and its work force.
Inspectors
The Contract Management Division provides efficient quality control for construction of the public infrastructure, providing a safe environment for the citizens of Rockville.
Operations
We provide timely, consistent, and reliable delivery of essential public works services to our customers. Enhancement of life in the community is achieved through sound maintenance of the infrastructure, availability of services on a 24-hour basis, and through diligent protection of the environment.
General Maintenance
The General Maintenance Division strives to improve, to the best of our ability, the quality of customer services because it is the most important reason for the doing what we do for the City of Rockville. It takes teamwork, pride, and self esteem to accomplish virtually unlimited services by creating, designing, maintaining, building, repairing, collecting, removing, and tackling any other problems or emergencies as they arise for a cleaner and safer environment. We do this to make a difference in everyone’s lives.
Environmental Engineering and Storm Water Management (SWM) Division
The Environmental Engineering and Storm Water Management (SWM) Division strives to ensure that all water and waste facilities are designed, maintained, and inspected to meet City, State, and Federal standards were applicable. This mission ensures that the citizens of Rockville enjoy the very best environmental standard of living as possible.
Traffic and Transportation Division
The Traffic and Transportation Division strives to optimize the movement of people, goods, and services throughout the city while accentuating safety and maintaining the quality of life within neighborhoods. The Division provides for the mobility of motor vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles by assuring that public streets are designed to acceptable standards, by planning and installing roadway, sidewalk, and traffic control improvements, and through efficient operation of traffic signal and street lighting systems. Motor Vehicle Maintenance (MVM)
To ensure that the vehicles and equipment within the City’s Fleet are always operational and well maintained.
Recycling and Refuse
We take pride in our jobs in providing a quality service for the City of Rockville, ourselves, and our families. We drive, supervise, and provide the collection of recycling and refuse.
Utilities
The Utilities Division's work involves maintaining and repairing water and sewer systems on a 24 hour basis providing timely, consistent, and reliable quality services for the citizens and customers of Rockville.
Water Treatment Plant
To provide a plentiful supply of drinking water, which is not only safe and meets all regulatory requirements, but satisfies our customers expectations of high quality.
