Dog and Cat Rabies Vaccinations and Licenses

The City of Rockville requires all dogs and cats older than four months to be vaccinated for rabies. All dogs older than four months are also required to be licensed. Failure to vaccinate an animal as required may subject the owner to a $250 fine.

Rabies Clinic for Dogs, Cats, and Ferrets

The Montgomery County Police Department's Animal Services Division will be sponsoring five rabies vaccination clinics during 2012. The clinics will be held on the third Sunday of each month listed below at the Montgomery County Animal Shelter located at 14645 Rothgeb Drive in Rockville. Each clinic will begin at 10 a.m. and will end at noon on the following dates:

  • April
  • May 19
  • June 16
  • July 21
  • August 18

The clinics offer free rabies vaccinations after pet licenses are purchased at the clinic for City of Rockville pets. Rabies vaccinations for cats and ferrets of Rockville residents and all out-of-county pets are $4 per animal.

City of Rockville pet licenses will also be available at each clinic.

All animals must be leashed or in carriers and controlled to receive service.

A City of Rockville dog license must be purchased. No City of Rockville license is required for cats.

There is a 50% reduction on the above fees for senior citizens, handicapped, and those persons on public assistance.
