The City’s “Be Happy, Be Healthy” Community Wellness Initiative is a new program to improve the health and wellness of Rockville residents by providing information and activities for people of all ages. Monthly programs offered at City facilities and outdoor locations provide convenient, inexpensive ways for citizens to learn about ways to improve their health. Drop in on a seminar, join an exercise class, learn a healthy cooking skill, or take a family bike ride—there are many ways to make small or large changes which can improve the well-being of individuals and families in the community. Sunday, May 25, 2008 8:00am – 12:00pm Rockville Town Square A fun event for everyone! The 7th annual Ride & Stride for Rockville is an organized bike ride and fun run/walk to benefit Rockville’s Youth Recreation Fund. Back, by popular demand are the 2 and 5 mile run/walk routes, and of course your choice of a leisurely 12 mile bike ride or a challenging 28 mile bike ride. This event is fitting for all ages! Share your health achievement story and inspire others to make life changes like you... Rock On!, a new web initiative from the Community Wellness Program, will share motivating stories on healthy achievements by Rockville residents, like you, who have achieved their healthy goals: losing weight, quitting smoking, running a marathon, getting a health screening that detected an illness early, and so on.
Be among the first to motivate others! Send in a story about yourself or nominate a friend or family member that made you proud. Your stories might encourage someone else to make a change in their lives. Fill out and e-mail the Rock On! form to HBoguski@rockvillemd.gov, and feel free to attach pictures!
