What's Making Headlines this Month in Rockville

Rockville City Hall to Close for Labor Day
Recycling and Refuse Will Shift Forward One Day

Rockville City Hall will be closed on Monday, Sept. 6, for the Labor Day holiday. The Rockville Swim and Fitness Center will be open noon to 9 p.m. and RedGate Municipal Golf Course will be open with the first tee time at 7 a.m.

The City will not collect recycling or refuse. Residents should put their recycling and refuse out the day after their scheduled collection day that week. Friday collections will take place Saturday. Call 240-314-8568 for questions about recycling and refuse.

No money will be required for parking meters or City-owned garages. Call 240-314-5000 for information.

Sharing Rockville's 'Brand' with the Community
The City of Rockville has been working since last December to create a community brand that will define what makes Rockville such a special place to live and work; retain and attract residents; and promote the preservation and development of local businesses and the economy.

The Mayor and Council approved hiring a consultant, ROI, who returned to the Mayor and Council on Aug. 2 with research findings supporting the establishment of the City's brand.

ROI learned much about Rockville through surveys, stakeholder meetings and other research that led it to determine how Rockville should define itself.

While a brand is not a logo, a tagline, or the two together, those elements of recognition represent the brand — the thoughts and feelings of people about the community.

Community meetings will be held this fall to solicit community input about the logo and tagline for the brand, but also to define what the brand is and how it represents Rockville.
