Residents to be Named Good Neighbors
Three residents will receive the annual Good Neighbor Award on Tuesday, Oct. 5, from 7-9 p.m. at the Glenview Mansion at Rockville Civic Center Park, 603 Edmonston Drive.

The residents were chosen for their exceptional contributions to the community.

"We've received some very impressive nominations so far this year," said Rocio Estrada, neighborhood resources coordinator. "There is an amazing amount of community spirit and pride here in Rockville, and it's wonderful to see so many neighbors supporting one another and our city."

All of the nominees will receive a certificate from the Mayor and Council; the three awardees will receive plaques.

The Good Neighbor Awards are held annually to recognize residents who are committed to preserving and improving the quality of life in Rockville's neighborhoods.

Nominations are accepted throughout the year and can be submitted through the City's website at www.rockvillemd.gov/government/citymanager/gnaward.htm. Nominations for this year's award will be accepted through Labor Day.

For more information about the program contact Rocio Estrada at 240-314-8345.

The new school year is getting under way and Rockville is seeking volunteers for its Mentoring Program.

The program, now entering its 16th year, gives adults and high school students a chance to work one-on-one with elementary students to help them develop their academic and social skills.

Mentors meet with students for one hour each week during the school year. For more information, call Cynthia Bangali at 240-314-8317 or e-mail cbangali@rockvillemd.gov.
