Funkhouser Retires from Post After 11 Years

The Rockville Mayor and Council appointed Glenda P. Evans as the City Clerk on Aug. 2.

Glenda P. EvansEvans, who has served as the Executive Administrative Assistant to the Chairman of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission since 2008, will provide administrative and clerical support for the Mayor and Council. Evans earned a master's degree in general administration and a bachelor's degree in business administration from Central Michigan University.

Former City Clerk Claire Funkhouser retired Aug. 5 after serving 11 years at the post. In June, Funkhouser was honored by the Maryland Municipal Clerks Association with the Clerk of the Year award.

Strategic Scan Provides Overview of Community Trends
Rockville's Strategic Scan 2010 is an overview of some key demographic, social and economic trends and conditions that are relevant to City government and policy decisions. While the government cannot change many of these trends and conditions, they describe the community and guide City policies and municipal services.

The Strategic Scan 2010 includes local and regional data and is separated into chapters on Demographics, Economy, Housing, Development Trends, Transportation, Water Resources, Public Safety and Civic Engagement.

The report will be updated every two years. The next update will include information from the 2010 Census.

To review the Strategic Scan 2010, visit the City's website, www.rockvillemd.gov.
