The Rockville Senior Center’s Living Legacy Planned Giving Campaign ensures that an attractive, safe, fun and educational center for residents aged 60 and older will be available to future generations of the city.
Since 1982, the Rockville Senior Center has provided a variety of social, educational, fitness and recreational programs. It is one of the largest centers for older adults in the nation. Over 2,000 people directly benefit from its facilities and activities each month. The Center plays an important part in the well-being of Rockville’s residents and in the health of the community. Thanks to the taxpayers of Rockville, the center has highly qualified staff and an adequate operating budget. However, the “extras” that make the Rockville Senior Center so special come from people like you. Each year we rely on donations and contributions to purchase the special items that make the center so comfortable, inviting and easy to use. Items like the assistive listening devices, large projection television, furniture, kitchen equipment, books, movies, scholarships for low income seniors, and annual Health Fair are paid for from donations. We want the Rockville Senior Center to continue to be held to the highest standards in program quality, cleanliness, and safety. Your investment in our center’s future will help ensure that our center will serve older adults now and for years to come. Your thoughtful donation is tax deductible through our 501©3 corporation, Rockville Seniors, Inc. Campaign Goal The Center’s Living Legacy Campaign seeks to raise $1,000,000 to ensure that the Rockville Senior Center can continue its tradition of excellence, serving older adults in a caring, fun, supportive and educational atmosphere. Why are we setting such a high goal? This campaign will ensure that the center can support its programs and services and provide for facility and equipment improvements as the need arises. This will provide protection from budget cuts and ensure that we can continue to provide our legacy to the seniors of Rockville. - Gifts of Appreciated Property
With careful planning, charitable gifts of long term appreciated securities or real estate can create very favorable tax benefits for you – such as the elimination of paying long-term capital gains tax or receiving an income tax charitable contribution. - Bequests
Gifts through wills and bequests can provide you with the opportunity to honor and sustain your family name at the Rockville Senior Center. - Life Income/Charitable Trusts
Charitable trusts offer an opportunity to make a substantial gift to Rockville Seniors, Inc. without forfeiting the annual income produced by these assets. You will retain income for your life and the life of your spouse. This gift can also be structured to create a substantial tax break over a period of years. - Life Insurance
Many people own some form of life insurance. Life insurance can play a very important part in Planned Charitable Giving. Life insurance for charitable purposes can be accomplished by (1) the transfer of ownership of an existing policy to Rockville Seniors, Inc., or (2) the purchase of life insurance which names Rockville Seniors, Inc. as the beneficiary and/or owner. - Cash Donations
Most gifts to the Rockville Senior Center take the form of a cash or check payment. Please make checks payable to Rockville Seniors, Inc. (RSI). Checks can be mailed to 1150 Carnation Drive, Rockville, MD 20850. Your donations are tax deductible. Any donation above $500 will be recognized on our donor board with a beautiful handmade flower and a plaque with your name, or the name of a person you want remembered. - Living Legacy Planned Giving Form
