When: Sunday, September 7th from 12 - 4 p.m. Where: Rockville Municipal Swim Center How Much: $5 per dog Doggie Dip Day will be held on Sunday, September 7th from 12-4pm. Victoria Hollifield, DVM, of Best Friends Veterinary Hospital will be our on-site veterinarian. All dogs must have a current rabies certificate or letter from their vet stating that they've received the shots in order to gain entry to the event. The outdoor entrance will be used for this event. There will be vendors of dog-related products selling merchandise and providing information for dog owners. Sponsors include Your Dog's Friend, Annapolis for Animals, Doctor of Optometry, Best Friends Veterinary Hospital, Dog Day Care and Pet Treats. Owners and human guests enter free, unless they will be swimming in the indoor pool or using other Swim Center facilities. People will not be allowed to enter the outdoor recreation pool with their dogs due to health and safety concerns. All dogs must be under the control of their owners at all times. We will also host a food drive to benefit Manna, a Rockville-based food center. (Please see their website for a list of items in great demand: www.mannafood.org.) Does my dog have to be registered in Montgomery County or the City of Rockville? No. Simply present either the date (day and year) stamped rabies vaccination tag or the certificate of rabies vaccination date on it to the event. What is the cost? $5 PER dog; no fee for owners/bystanders. I'm a vendor/sponsor. When can I set up? Vendor/sponsors may arrive between 11:30 and 11:45 to set up on the day of the event. Does my dog have to be spayed or neutered? No. Can I stand in the shallow water with my dog? No. People will not be permitted in the water during the event. If my dog doesn't have a current rabies vaccine can he still participate? No. However, free rabies vaccines will be available at the event (donated by the Humain Society). Animals who receive a shot the day of the event will not be able to participate. |
