The Rockville-Montgomery Swim Club is one of the largest and most successful swimming teams in the United States. Located just outside Washington, DC in Montgomery County, Maryland, we currently have 62 coaches working with 1319 swimmers at 5 practice sites. The team is operated as a joint program between the City of Rockville Department of Recreation and Parks and the Montgomery County Recreation Department.

Matt Harris Joins RMSC Olympic Trial Qualifiers
Special congratulations to Matt Harris who became RMSC's 10th qualifier for the 2008 USA Olympic Team Trials.  Matt swam a 54.87 in the 100 Fly in the Toyota Grand Prix at the Ohio State University.
 

   

Back to Back - RMSC Defends Title at Junior Nationals
RMSC has successfully defended its Combined Team championship as well as capturing its first Men's Team championship at the 2008 Junior Naitonal Swimming Championships in Orlando, FL.  The top six team scores in the combined competition were as follows:
Rockville-Montgomery - 585 points
Nova of Virginia - 549 points
Curl-Burke - 429 points
Baylor Swim Club - 279 points
Long Island Aquatic Club - 261 points
The Woodlands Swim Team - 248.5 points
 

 Individual highlights include a new Olympic Trial cuts for Eric Friedland (100 and 200 Breaststrokes) and Sean Stewart (200 Fly).  Individual wins were posted by Brady Fox - 200 Back, Eric Friedland - 200 Breast, and Mark Meyer - 200 Fly.

 New Girls Team records were set by Sarah Haase (13-14 50y Breast), Elizabeth Pepper (13-14 200y Fly), Anais Menguy (15-16 50y & 50m Fly), Elena Spak (17-18 50m Free), Senior 200y Medley Relay and 400m Medley Relay (Cara Chuang, Sarah Haase, Anais Menguy, & Elena Spak).

New Boys Team records were set by Eric Friedland (17-18 & Senior 200y Free, 17-18 and Senior 50y Breast, 17-18 100m Breast), Brady Fox (17-18 and Senior 200m Free,  17-18 200m Back), Senior 200y Free Relay (Sean Stewart, Chris Pham, Brady Fox & Mark Meyer), Senior 400y and 400m Free Relay (Eric Friedland, Mark Meyer, Sean Stewart & Brady Fox), Senior 800y Free Relay (Stewart, Stephen Sarkaris, Friedland & Fox), Senior 800m Free Relay (Fox, Matt Thomas, Friedland, and Stewart), Senior 200y Medley Relay (Fox, Friedland, Meyer, Stewart).

 RMSC Brings Home 19th Straight Age Group Championship
RMSC continues its dominance at the Potomac Valley Junior Olympic meet by claiming its 19th consecutive team championships.  The final team scores for the top three teams were: RMSC - 6,464, Curl-Burke Swim Club
 - 3,955, and Machine Aquatics - 1,533.  RMSC swimmers claimed the top team score in all 6 age groups.  Special congratulations to high point award winners: Carsten Vissering (10&Un Boys High Point), Dylan Buehler (10&Un Boys Runner-up), Jorge Rios (11-12 Boys High Point), and Sarah Haase (13-14 Girls Runner-up)

 

Don Riedlinger Selected to Officiate Olympic Trials
Congratulations to RMSC Official Don Riedlinger for his selection to the prestigious group of approximately 60 deck officials for the 2008 USA Olympic Team Trials - Swimming in Omaha, NE.  RMSC is proud to be sending contingent of swimmers, coaches, and officials to the most prestigious USA Swimming meet of the year.

 

 Brady Fox Sets National Age Group Record
At the 2007 USA Swimming Short Course National Championships in Atlanta, Brady Fox set a new USA Swimming National Age Group record in the 15-16 Boys 200 Yard Backstroke.  Brady's time of 1:44.96 eclipsed the previous mark of 1:45.10.  Special congratulations also to Eric Friedland who set a team record in the 17-18 Boys 200 IM (1:49.45), Marina Mulyayeva who set a record in the Senior Women's 50 Freestyle (23.26) and the 100 Fly (54.19), and the men's 800 Freestyle Relay team of Eric Friedland, Brady Fox, Mark Meyer, and Sean Stewart who set a new senior team record of 6:48.08.

Inaugural National Age Group Team Challenge Goes to RMSC
When four of the top ten teams in the country get together for an early season meet, there's no shortage of great swimming, and the first National Age Group Team Challenge certainly lived up to expectations.  Swimmers from Coast Guard Blue Dolphins (#10 in the 2007 Virtual Club Championships), Nova of Virginia (#7), Curl-Burke (#3), and Rockville-Montgomery (#1) met at the Germantown Indoor Swim Center for the first meet of its kind: All scoring was based on the point system used in the Virtual Club Championships.  After 134 single age events for swimers from 9 through 14, RMSC came out on top with 142,960 points, followed by NOVA with 12
0,196 and CUBU with 119,716.  Plans are already underway to expand the field of teams for next year's meet.
